Emy and Pau Camera Used: Nikon D5100, 18-55mm lens
So finally I had the chance to take pictures with real people. For a start , I met Emy and Pau, two nice girls who were an ease working with. The experience was all about firsts. Handling these models and telling them what to do was still a bit awkward for me. I was used to taking pictures of dolls and I don't really instruct them , I just move their hands, make them turn around or tilt their bodies but this time I can't do that with these girls. These are real human beings so I tried to give instructions. Good thing. I was with three other Photographers, Jenny , Peejay and Monique made my work at lot easier. By the way all these are Peejay's idea. It started as an invite and ended as a good experience.
THE STORY BEHIND THE VENUE
It was a really long story finding a venue. Peejay's initial concept was with the mangroves but apparently when we we're at the venue, it wasn't what he exepected so we decided to move to a different location, somewhere the girls and Peejay himself are familiar and certain we could begin. Unluckily , the place was closed down from visitors and has been restricted for public use so that means we have to find another place. The last stop was Emy's suggestion but we ended taking photos on a spot nearby. It was at Looc Mactan and it wasn't really that bad, actually it was great. The Tropical Ambiance was inviting and we started to unpack our bags and the next thing , we we're having a good time taking pictures of the humble scenery.
FULL COLOR SHOTS So here are the final outcome of our short but fun photoshoot! I call these Full Color simply because color and texture we're enchanced to give the picture a more lively and vibrant look.
THE DRAMA I tried to do something more than just enchancing color and texture. I thought of adding Drama to it. So here goes... hehehe :) Please bare with me, I'm amateur on this stuff so I just let go of what I can think of.
VINTAGE AND BOKEH
These last set of pictures including the very first one you saw on top are simply out of experiment. I had asked myself what if I edit these pictures in the same way that I edit my barbie dolls. So I decided to give these a vintage look and added some bokeh. The result? well you'd be the judge of that.
if you''re wondering who's Emy and who's Pau? The girl in violet is Pau or Paula and Emy is the one in black. I had a great time with them Both we're very humble and easy to get a long with. What's memorable is that this was Emy's fist pictorial as a model and this was also my first photo shoot with real life models. One day I will go back to this page and remember how I first started but what will forever stay is the experience and the friendship I gained from Emy and Pau. Two beautiful girls with beautiful hearts that I have shared making photographs in this journey called life.
ONE FINE DAY! Camera Used: Nikon D5100, 18-55 mm lens
"It's another day. It's another beautiful day! Life is a matter of perspective. No matter what the weather, no matter what the situation we are in, if we have the right perspective in life, life will always be beautiful!" - Joel Randymar
"Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it." - Groucho Marx
This is a Manual Setting Test for my DSLR Camera. I have used the preset portrait setting most of the time and somehow wanted to find out if there’s more that I can do. So on that sunny morning I have decided to play around the ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speeds of my Camera and to my surprise these pictures came out. I was impressed and astound by the brightness and the richness of colors so moving forward I might go with the Manual Setting.
The Concept of this photo shoot is BEAUTY, the beauty of nature , the beauty of life and the beauty of love. I’m not sure If I have translated it well but I’d like to depict a scene where in a girl was trying to make a cover about horses and horsemen and found herself falling in love in the end.
Below are some pictures of my so called captured moments , the first fall and the first eye to eye contact. Hehehe.
"He stole my heart & Im planning to take a revenge, Im going to steal his last name. " -unkown-
So there goes that one fine day the both these dolls will never forget for the rest of their lives, that’s if they have one! Hehehe .Have a wonderful day to you all ! :)
I finally had the chance to buy myself a DSLR Camera. Using the Portrait Settings of the Nikon D5100 here's one of the earliest raw shots which I feel doesn't need any further editing.
I call these sets the Norwegian Twins for the reason that the Male Doll looks like a Norwegian Actor who plays the Role of Stellan in a Soap Opera and he looks like the male counterpart of Empress Doll Norway which is the female doll in this picture
You can't deny the fact that they look like fraternal Twins. When I finally received the Female doll from the local courier , It was instant, I had her paired with him but I couldn't feel any romantic chemistry between them instead I felt like they are each others long lost siblings.
From there,I called them the Norwegian twins, Stellan and Selena, who after a long period of time found themselves together again. I call the first few pictures, The Reunion. An undeniable sibling chemistry.
THE BONDING MOMENTS
This next set was taken outside our home juts under the Rubber Tree. As stated . It's the Bonding Moments. Even though they are just dolls I'd like to create a scene where they're both having a good time, goofing around and having fun.
It's amazing how you can create scenes with dolls and the fact that they don't get tired makes the photo shoot easy breezy.
Fallen Angels, this is how I interpreted it. The good thing about Dolls is that you can play around with them and they wont complain. You can dress them up and let them pose and you won't hear anything from them.
By now, you probably would've guess that most of my subjects are dolls. This photo shoot is for the Top 15 semi finalist of Empress Doll 2011. Believe it or not the background of these photos are the same as that with Mistress of the Fire. The key is editing. Again with some help from Online Editing Apps. These came to place. The great thing about giving these pictures a vintage look and adding some bokeh effects is that it makes them come to life and fulfills ones imagination.
I am pretty satisfied of the outcome though not everything in this set is that impressive. I wish I had more control with the contrasts and the brightness. That probably is the disadvantage when you use editing tools online, you have limited control over the lighting and the placement of the effects say for example the two pictures above. That is a preset bokeh , it attaches itself to the picture regardless of where your subject is, this would explain why these subjects are nearly covered with it.
But there are those that are perfectly in place, the pictures above are some of the best edits that I have for this set. You can click on the thumbnails to go to the next picture.
If you have any suggestions or any recommendations on how I can enhance my craft, please don't hesitate to comment below. I'm an amateur on this stuff and would appreciate every constructive feedback you can give.
I really don’t know what to say …hmmm… how should I start? The love of taking pictures started way way back 2005, I just didn't realize it then, I just took pictures because I felt the need to do so. For those of you who don’t know, I’m a doll collector and a Doll Pageant Director. I organize a yearly pageant for the non living beauties and this is one of the challenges. The concept is for the Top 24 candidates of the competition. Honestly , I ran out of ideas and all I have are 24 dolls with a rocky background at the front of our house. I live in a provincial setting environment but it’s in the city. I call it our little sanctuary. The original picture consists of just some big rocks and dolls but with a little help form online editor Apps and the ever trusted Photoshop. This came to place.. I just took an Olympus FE26, X21 Digital Camera, yes you heard me right, this is not the work of a DSLR camera.
So below are samples of my work .You can see more of them at the official website of these dolls. It's http://www.empressdollacademy.com or you can click here.
So i'll stop talking now and show you the top 5 photos for me for this particular set.
Fifth: Kate Middleton, Empress Doll of England 2011 and winner of that year. I like the mix of the fiery pose and the fresh and young face.
Fourth: Aphrodite Raj, Empress Doll of Malaysia 2011. Her exotic look and pouty lips says it all!
Third: Sabrina Gomez, Empress Doll of Colombia 2011 and 7th place of that year. Her soulful and sultry look puts her on top of the pack.
Second: Godiva Jafargholi, Empress Doll of South Africa. Her red head and sultry lips makes her an almost unbeatable contender of this round.
First: Katelyn Traveri, Empress Doll of Cyprus, perfect face, perfect pose and perfect contrast between the gentleness of her face and the fierceness of pose. This one is on Top of my list but in the whole competition she ended as 4th place.
